Senior Hearts: The Old Dog Rescue & Sanctuary

Welcome to Senior Hearts, an empathetic story-driven game that introduces the lesser-known struggles of old dogs in the shelter system. The Senior Hearts Sanctuary saves older dogs from euthanasia in shelters and gives them a second chance at finding their furever home. Play as the sanctuary’s designated dog therapist, Dr. Bones, the day after one of the dogs pass away from heart disease. Spend time meeting and caring for a funky cast of makeshift dogs and explore the four different adoption endings!

Senior Hearts advocates for the love and strength of senior dogs and encourages players to consider adopting senior animals. Despite their medical needs, enough love and patience reveals that senior dogs are just as cozy and cuddly as adopting a younger pup. It truly can be called a “rescue” when these elder souls are given a second chance at finding a good home, and they make such kind-hearted, steadfast companions when given the opportunity.

This was a game created in the Fall 2021 semester for the University of Utah's EAE program over the course of three months. Hope you enjoy playing our game!
